Pete Robins took full advantage of primo conditions at Lower Pen Trwyn today to make what is probably the second ascent of the "sustained" Infanticide (F8c); first climbed by Neil Carson 14 years ago.
Pete hasn't let his form slip since sending Moffatt's Liquid Ambar 8c/+ back in August last year. This May he repeated (also poss 2nd ascent ) Steve Mayer's LPT test-piece Youthanasia (F8b), making it harder by starting up Wild Understatement instead of Statement of Youth, dubbing the link Wild Youth (F8b+).
Infanticide took Pete about five sessions and he was able to put his knowledge of Youthanasia to good use since Infanticide moves out right for a few moves to join it at three-quarters height. Infanticide was climbed by Neil Carson a year before he straightened it out to give the crag it's biggest grade with the still unrepeated The Big Bang at 9a.
Big Bang is one of the five remaining routes left on LPT that Pete hasn't climbed. This and along with Ben Moon's Sea of Tranquility (8c+) are the only real hurdles to him ticking the whole crag!
