Locking Carabiners

All our alloy carabiners are designed and manufactured from start to finish at our Llanberis factory in North Wales. This way we have complete quality control over the production process and at each stage of the carabiners production there are set checks to insure strength and quality.

All the gates and barrels on our biners are machined from premium 7075 series aluminium alloy to a quality and strength far greater than current standards expect because weak gates/barrels have been the cause of several serious accidents.

We offer 3 standard gate options:

Screwgate – the barrel winds up and down a thread on the gate. The most common style used by climbers. These barrels are coloured lime green.

Quicklock – the barrel has a two way action; twist the barrel through 90 degrees and the gate can be opened. On release the barrel automatically springs back 90 degrees to the closed position. These barrels are coloured red.

Locksafe - the barrel has a three way action; lift the barrel, then twist it through 90 degrees and the gate can be opened. On release the barrel automatically springs back down and through 90 degrees to the closed position. These barrels are coloured green.

In addition we produce two stronger and safer gates for industrial customers where weight is less of a concern and different regulations apply. The Ovalock versions of the Quicklock and Locksafe have a very strong barrel that also resists accidental opening and yet is still easy to use.

In addition we have recently developed a new barrel system to meet the latest ANSI standard which demands the the carabiner must exceed 16kN in any orientation. DMM are the only company in the world who are able to meet this new standard for alloy carabiners.
